Criterion A, Investigating · A·i and A·ii

Strand A·i, the style

Your style defined by what it argues for and what it rejects, not just “the opposite of naturalistic theatre”
The style's central technique named and defined with a concrete example from a named play.
At least one collaborator named with a specific contribution.
At least two productions referenced with one specific moment or quoted line each.
SOI integrated throughout, not just in the final paragraph.
Your SOI redefined through the style's lens, not just restated.

Strand A·ii, the live production critique

Introduction names the company, directors, style and context, with no plot retelling.
Three performance elements analysed using what, how, why with a named technique each time.
Three production elements analysed, sound, set, lighting and costume choices each named precisely.
Adjective rich language describing how moments were performed.
Each point links to what the style is trying to do and the impact on the audience.
Forward link to Criterion B, at least one technique you intend to use yourself.

Criterion B, Developing · foundation and development journey

The foundation

Artistic intention is 300 to 400 words covering theme, SOI, audience impact, stimulus and style.
Moodboard included with written explanation of one specific image to scene link.
Getting ideas on feet section explains and justifies your starting approach.
Direct evidence included: rehearsal photos, scripts, stimuli, moodboard.
Every creative decision links back to SOI and artistic intention.

The development journey

Video shows three different scenes from your piece, not three stages of rehearsal time.
Each scene shows 3 or more progressions or technique additions, with on screen labels.
Multiple techniques shown across the three scenes, production and performance.
Each progression follows the 5 step structure in the written work.
Timestamps used throughout to anchor every claim to video evidence.
Nothing referenced that the examiner cannot see in the video.

Criterion C, Creating · performance

Performance readiness

Every technique used in your piece can be named, by you and by every ensemble member.
Changing characters and multi rolling rehearsed, visible or hidden as your style requires.
Direct contact moments, address, eye lines and interaction, have rehearsed targets.
Your voice matches your style, held consistently across the 5 minutes.
Postures and gestures in moments of tension and moments of stillness, you can describe what each one shows.
Transitions choreographed, no neutral walking between scenes.
Production roles assigned and rehearsed: sound cues, lighting states, costume props pre set.
Final run through filmed and watched back. Do you stay in your style for the full 5 minutes?

Criterion D, Evaluating · strand i and strand ii

Criterion D readiness

Introduction states artistic intention and SOI clearly and concisely.
Performance and production evaluation includes 3 to 4 points, PEEL or what, how, why, with timestamps.
At least one evaluation point addresses what could have been stronger in your performance.
Production elements covered as well as performance, blended into your paragraphs or written separately.
Artistic development includes 3 to 4 points about your growth, not the performance.
Critical reflection includes 2 to 3 points with genuine insight about theatre's power.
Every claim supported by a timestamp from the performance video.
SOI referenced throughout, not just in the introduction and conclusion.
Word count is 1,000 to 1,200. Concise, analytical, not padded.

Final hard rule

If the examiner cannot see it on the video, it does not exist. Every analytical claim in Criterion B Part 2 and Criterion D must be tied to a moment that is visible in the videos you submitted. Do not reference rehearsals not in the Task 2 video. Do not reference moments not in the Task 3 video. No timestamp, no claim.
